Forged nuts

Forged nuts means nuts that are forced by an air hammer or press machine when steel is in burning status. High-strength forged nuts are used in railways, bridges, and large buildings, so quality is very important. FastenMetal is one of the best forged nuts manufacturers In China, We manufacture various types of nuts with a range of sizes. We also manufacture special forged nuts according to customer drawings.

    Blacken Forged Square Nuts

Blacken forged square nuts are  typically used in heavy-duty applications. They are forged from steel or other metal alloys and then heat-treated, often followed by a process of blackening for corrosion resistance and a more durable finish.FastenMetal Custom various of non-standard forged metal parts, please feel free to email us your drawings.

  • Forged Huge Hex Nuts

    Forged Huge Hex Nuts

Forged nuts are high strength metal fasteners made by heating and shaping metal under high pressure and high temperature, usually with a hammer or press. This process makes them tougher and more durable, so they’re used in places where things need to be fastened securely, like in cars, planes, or heavy machinery. They’re better at handling stress and wear than nuts made in other ways, like casting or cutting. About Forge Nuts

What is the difference between forged nuts and regular nuts?

The main differences between forged nuts and regular nuts are their manufacturing process, strength, weight, and appearance.

  1. Different Manufacturing Processes
Forged nuts and regular nuts are made using different methods. Forged nuts are formed by heating raw materials to a specific temperature and shaping them in a mold, while regular nuts are produced through cold processing, machining, or casting.
  2. Different Strengths
Due to the manufacturing process of forged nuts, their grain structure is more compact and uniform, giving them better tensile strength and durability. Regular nuts, due to their production limitations, have lower strength compared to forged nuts and are not suitable for high-strength equipment or extreme environments.
  3. Different Materials
Forged nuts are generally made from carbon steel or alloy steel, while regular nuts can be made from a variety of materials such as copper, aluminum, or plastic.
  4. Different Applications
Because of their special structure and strength, forged nuts are mainly used in high-strength equipment and extreme environments. Regular nuts are suitable for general equipment and environments.

In summary, forged nuts and regular nuts differ in manufacturing process, strength, materials, and application scope. For equipment and environments that require higher tensile strength, forged nuts are the better choice.

What is the material of forged nuts?

The materials used for forged nuts are different from regular nuts. Forged nuts commonly use 45# steel or 40Cr steel. These materials have higher strength and toughness, allowing them to withstand larger loads. Regular nuts are typically made from ordinary carbon steel or stainless steel, which have lower strength and durability. After undergoing the forging process, forged nuts have a more uniform structure and higher density, which enhances their strength and toughness. While regular nuts are produced through cold heading or machining processes. Their structure is often less uniform compared to forged nuts, and they do not possess the high strength and durability that forged nuts have due to the forging process.

What is the manufacturing process to produce large hexagonal nuts?

First step: Place a long steel rod onto the saw machine to cut uniform-sized bars. During the cutting process, there isn’t much noise, and the cut surface is smooth. The precision of the cutting size can also be well controlled.

Second step:Installing the mold for forging the hexagonal nuts onto the forging machine. Since the mold is very heavy, normally it requires two people to smoothly place it into the forging machine.

Third step: Neatly arrange the cut steel bars into the machine. Since the nuts being forged are relatively large, the steel bars are also larger.

Fourth step: Heating the steel bars, usually with induction heating. Here, you can hear a sharp electric sound from the heating furnace as the current is transmitted to the surface of the steel bar through electromagnetic induction, generating eddy currents inside the bar to heat it quickly. Before Stamping, the temperature of the steel bar needs to reach 1300°C.

Fifth step:Forging the steel bar using a stamping machine or hydraulic hammer. With just two stamping, the steel bar can be easily forged into shape. Next, excess material from the forging process is removed using a piece of equipment. At this point, the large nut shape is complete.

Sixth step: Cooling the nut, followed by a sandblasting process to clean the surface.

Finally:Machining the internal threads.

Where are forged huge hex nuts used?

The strength of forged nuts is generally above grade 8.8, and they are mainly used in railways, bridges, large buildings, etc., where safety is critical. Therefore, the quality requirements are very strict.
