The main differences between forged nuts and regular nuts are their manufacturing process, strength, weight, and appearance.
In summary, forged nuts and regular nuts differ in manufacturing process, strength, materials, and application scope. For equipment and environments that require higher tensile strength, forged nuts are the better choice.
The materials used for forged nuts are different from regular nuts. Forged nuts commonly use 45# steel or 40Cr steel. These materials have higher strength and toughness, allowing them to withstand larger loads. Regular nuts are typically made from ordinary carbon steel or stainless steel, which have lower strength and durability. After undergoing the forging process, forged nuts have a more uniform structure and higher density, which enhances their strength and toughness. While regular nuts are produced through cold heading or machining processes. Their structure is often less uniform compared to forged nuts, and they do not possess the high strength and durability that forged nuts have due to the forging process.
First step: Place a long steel rod onto the saw machine to cut uniform-sized bars. During the cutting process, there isn’t much noise, and the cut surface is smooth. The precision of the cutting size can also be well controlled.
Second step:Installing the mold for forging the hexagonal nuts onto the forging machine. Since the mold is very heavy,normally it requires two people to smoothly place it into the forging machine.
Third step: Neatly arrange the cut steel bars into the machine. Since the nuts being forged are relatively large, the steel bars are also larger.
Fourth step: Heating the steel bars, usually with induction heating. Here, you can hear a sharp electric sound from the heating furnace as the current is transmitted to the surface of the steel bar through electromagnetic induction, generating eddy currents inside the bar to heat it quickly. Before Stamping, the temperature of the steel bar needs to reach 1300°C.
Fifth step:Forging the steel bar using a stamping machine or hydraulic hammer. With just two stamping, the steel bar can be easily forged into shape. Next, excess material from the forging process is removed using a piece of equipment. At this point, the large nut shape is complete.
Sixth step: Cooling the nut, followed by a sandblasting process to clean the surface.
Finally:Machining the internal threads.
